 WOMANOPHOBIA # 4

Womanophobia is a coined word that describes the following:

The irrational fear of letting a woman have a position of leadership, especially in the Church.

It is comprised of two words:
1.  WOMAN i.e. a human of Female Gender created in the Image and likeness of Elohim, the Creator! So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
2.  PHOBIA is an intense, irrational, unrealistic fear, which can interfere with the ability to socialize, work, or go about everyday life that is brought on by an object, event or situation and is regarded as a mental disorder.

For example if someone is bit by a dog, may develop a fear against all dogs. Such person would never come close to a canine, purchase one or enjoy its wonderful company- he has developed an irrational fear that will prevent him from enjoying one.

A Phobia comes accompanied by a spirit of fear. The Scriptures tell us that God has not given us a spirit of fear.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

We believe that when people have strong reactions of rejection against women in ministry it is irrational, unrealistic and it paralyzes the Body of Y’shua so it cannot function properly. By the end of these series of teachings, you will know why it is imperative that we get rid of Womanophobia once and for all as it is OBSTRUCTING revival and the Move of the Spirit. On the first part of this Urgent Message Rabbi Baruch Bierman shared his testimony as an ex-persecutor of women in leadership. In each one of the chapters following he will take you through the Scriptures from the original Greek language and your eyes will be opened to the Truth. That BOTH male and female are created in the Image of Elohim, the Creator and BOTH are called to be fruitful, to multiply and to RULE in this earth. Both men and women are called to be priests and kings unto our God! The Almighty used Deborah as the Prophet and the Judge of all of Israel, she taught men the Torah in the Old Covenant times...The New Covenant is established on better promises and that includes in what concerns WOMEN!

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Messiah Y’shua. Galatians 3:28

We all have the same Holy Spirit and she is no respecter of persons!
Spirit/Ruach in Hebrew is of feminine gender as in Genesis 1:2
Ruach Elohim Merachefet al pnei hamayim.
The Spirit of the Creator was floating/fluttering/dancing as a female over the waters (Merachefet is female! Male would be Merachef!)

Rabbi Baruch continues expounding on Ephesians 5:22

“Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord”

Let us take a look at some of the wives during Biblical times that have impacted history.

Rebecca the Savior of God’s Plan

We will start with Mother Rivkah-Rebecca the wife of Isaac. We see that Abraham, Isaac’s father sent his servant Eliezer to seek a wife for his son. Eliezer prayed and said:

He said, "O LORD, the God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today, and show lovingkindness to my master Abraham.  "Behold, I am standing by the spring, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water; now may it be that the girl to whom I say, 'Please let down your jar so that I may drink,' and who answers, 'Drink, and I will water your camels also'--may she be the one whom You have appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness to my master."  Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor, came out with her jar on her shoulder. Genesis 24:12-15

We clearly see that YHVH answered Eliezer’s prayers in a very accurate manner. Rivkah totally fit the description of Eliezer’s prayer. We know that she was young and probably a teen ager, beautiful, very strong, and sensitive to the Holy Spirit and still a virgin. When Eliezer took her back to Isaac she saw Isaac from afar and inquired if that was her “lord” or future husband. Upon realization that he indeed was, she veiled her face instantly as a sign of modesty and submission. Later on we see that Rebecca’s love caused Isaac to forget the grief of bereavement due to his beloved mother, Sarah’s recent death.

Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and he took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her; thus Isaac was comforted after his mother's death. Genesis 24:67

We can see that later on in life, Rebecca seemed to be part of the scheme to deceive Isaac so that Jacob could receive the blessing of the First Born instead of Esau. Jacob has been called in church circles by theologians and scholars- the “deceiver” or “supplanter”. However Jacob’s name really means “to follow” and to grab onto the heel which may suggest one that follows hard after the things of God and certainly not a supplanter or a deceiver. In fact this misinterpretation of the name Yaakov-Jacob is anti-Semitic. The purpose was to discredit Jacob as the first Jew and the direct father of the 12 tribes of Israel. If Jacob is discredited then all of Israel would be too. Thus this anti-Semitic theological misinterpretation of Jacob’s name has caused countless of Christians to regard Israel and Jews as “deceivers” and “supplanters”. Please remember that Esau was a hunter and Jacob was a plain man. Jacob had made a red lentil stew which Esau was willing to acquire in order to satisfy his fleshly appetite even at the expense of selling his own birthright. Rightly in the Book Romans we read that God loved Jacob but Esau He hated,

Just as it is written, "Jacob I Loved, But Esau I Hated." Romans 9:13

When Jacob went to ask for the blessing of the First Born from his father Isaac, he was only following the instructions of his mother Rebecca. Rebecca at the time of her pregnancy when her two sons struggled within her womb (Genesis 25:22) she inquired of the Lord about this uncomfortable situation. YHVH replied to her:

The LORD said to her, "Two nations are in your womb; And two peoples will be separated from your body; And one people shall be stronger than the other; And the older shall serve the younger." Genesis 25:23

So, she already knew before their birth that Elohim’s will was that Jacob would become the elder by Divine Election. Now Rebecca proceeded to execute the Will of God that was revealed to her by the Almighty prior to the birth of her sons. So, she instructed Isaac to disguise himself as Esau in order to obtain the blessing of the First Born that in fact Esau had already despised and sold to his younger brother for a red lentil stew. This was fulfilling the Will of Yah (God) that Jacob would become the First Born by Divine Election. This was not any ordinary scheme devised by Rebecca and executed by Isaac but rather Rebecca was following the instructions of the Holy Spirit as you will see.

Rebekah was listening while Isaac spoke to his son Esau. So when Esau went to the field to hunt for game to bring home, Rebekah said to her son Jacob, "Behold, I heard your father speak to your brother Esau, saying, Genesis 27:5, 6

Rebecca overheard her husband Isaac giving the instruction to Esau, so that he would prepare the meal that would release Isaac’s blessing over Esau as the First Born. Fully knowing that Yah (God) had showed her clearly that this was not to be, she hurried to instruct and command Jacob so that he would get the blessing of the First born as God showed her prior to his birth.

"Now therefore, my son, listen to me as I command you. Genesis 27:8

She was so certain that this was the Will of the Almighty that when Jacob was fearful about this whole scenario she reassured him that she as his mother would take all the responsibility up to the point of being willing to be cursed if necessary.

But his mother said to him, "Your curse be on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get them for me." Genesis 27:13

Rebecca was a very courageous mother and Woman of God. She sought YHVH diligently and was willing to follow His instructions against all odds and above the will of her own husband that had become “carnal” and both physical and spiritually blind. This shows us that wives should follow God’s instructions above those of carnal husbands that rule by the arm of the flesh. Had she not obeyed YHVH, the entire plan of salvation for mankind would have been warped!

Jacob was very similar to his mother in his character as he also was obedient to his parents not like Esau who despised his inheritance and also the instruction of his parents not to marry foreign women.

When Esau was forty years old he married Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite; and they brought grief toIsaac and Rebekah.  Genesis 26:34, 35

Rebecca could hear the Holy Spirit very well and thus became the savior and executor of Yah’s plan to instill Jacob as the First Born through whom the promise to Abraham would continue. Therefore Rebecca was mightily used of Yah for the forming of the nation of Israel through which the Messiah would come in order to save all of mankind.

Deborah the Prophet, Judge and Instructor of Israel

Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time.  She used to sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the sons of Israel came up to her for judgment. Judges 5:4

We can clearly see that Deborah was married to Mr. Lapidoth. However we have no idea what did Mr. Lapidoth do since the Scriptures focus on Deborah only and mention her as Prophetess first, which means that her Office  took precedence over her marriage. In other words her husband Mr. Lapidoth needed to submit to the ministry of his own wife since she was the judge and ruler of all of Israel, including her own husband! She was like the Prime Minister of all of Israel but she held both the office of Prophet and Prime Minister (Judge!)

In another Biblical recount from the Book of Isaiah we can see that Isaiah’s wife was a prophetess (and may have written large portion of the Book of Isaiah) however we do not know her name since the Scriptures focus on him, not on her.

So I approached the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. Then the LORD said to me, "Name him Maher-shalal-hash-baz; Isaiah 8:3

In the case of Deborah, the Scriptures focus on her and not on him. This we can see that YHVH is no respecter of gender at all. He is the one who calls and who can reverse it? There is no mention in the Holy Scriptures that Prophetess Deborah was God’s “second choice” because He could not find a suitable man as many tend to suggest. She is matter of fact described as Deborah the Prophetess, the judge, the ruler and the teacher of the Sons of Israel. Her authority was unquestionable and respected by all including the high army official and Commander Barak.

Samson’s Mother

There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren and had borne no children.  Then the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, "Behold now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and give birth to a son. Judges 13:2-3

In the Book of Judges chapter 13 we meet a woman that is married to a man by the name of Manoah. The Scriptures do not tell us her name but are very explicit at showing us that God’s will may be revealed to the wife and not to the husband. In this case the Angel of Elohim appeared to the woman who was barren and told her of the soon birth of a son (Samson) that would save Israel from their enemies. This Angel instructed the woman on how to raise the child and what to do. However when she told her husband, he was not happy that the Angel of God appeared to his wife and not to him, “the man of the house”! So, he asked for the angel to come back again so he (the man) could hear the instructions directly and not through his wife (God forbid!)

The Angel indeed appeared for the second time to the wife and not to the husband.
God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she was sitting in the field, but Manoah her husband was not with her. Judges 13:9

The woman ran home to bring her man and when the man asked the Angel what to do with this promised son that would be born, the Angel of YHVH sternly said:

So the angel of the LORD said to Manoah, "Let the woman pay attention to all that I said. Judges 13:13

We can clearly see that God expects husbands to follow the instructions that HE gives to the wives whenever He chooses to speak to her first and has no time for “male shovinism
