Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb. John 20:1
Shabbat shalom dearly beloved:
Throughout my years in ministry Yah (God) has always returned me to the simple truth that seeking Him BEFORE the sunrise is the most effective way to find Him!
The First to get Revelation and Authority to Preach!
Miriam (Mary) from the City of Migdal (Magdalene) knew these foundational truths as all praying Jews do. In Israel the “morning prayers” are done before sunrise and normally in the synagogues at about 4 AM. This is called in the Brit Chadasha (New Testament); The Fourth Watch of the Night.
And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. Matthew 14:25
When the Holy Temple in Jerusalem was up, the priests had watches that they needed to keep so the fire would not die on the Altar. Also when the guards or the “Watchmen” would watch over the city against enemies or thieves, they had certain customary watches. The First Watch of the Night started at 6 PM, the First Watch of the Day started at 6 AM. All watches were three hours long. Thus the Fourth watch of the night was every night from 3-6 AM. At 6 AM would start the first watch of the morning. From this we can gather that Miriam came to the Tomb and was the first one to meet the Risen Lord during the Fourth Watch of the Night!
If you want to be the FIRST to get revelation and receive the commissioning, authority and anointing to preach to leaders, then seek Him while it’s yet night. Seek Him during the Fourth Watch of the Night! Miriam was the FIRST preacher of the Resurrection and she preached to the Disciples (all men!)! She was a woman sent by the Lord Himself to preach to the male leaders that He had chosen! She was the First one to preach the Risen Messiah to the Sons of Israel!
Yeshua said to her, "Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.'" Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord," and that He had said these things to her. John 20:17, 18
The 4th Watch of the Night!
Seeing them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. Mark 4:48
In the previous scriptures we can see that the disciples were doing their very BEST to obey Y’shua’s instructions to GO to the other side of Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) but the winds were contrary and they seemed to be rowing and toiling in vain! How many times have you tried to obey Yah’s will to the BEST Of your ability and you seem to be advancing NOWHERE? You know that He called you and yet adversity comes your way and blocks you and stops you again and again! What to do? There is a solution: Seek Him during the Fourth Watch of the Night so He can do the “rowing of your boat” (Ministry). If He told you to do something you surely can’t do it by your own strength, even if you spend all your energy “trying”. We need to have His INTERVENTION!
There is a big battle that happens during the 4th watch of the Night! It is the time when most people are deep in sleep and the enemy takes advantage of our vulnerability and attacks. Most nightmares occur at this time and also most crimes and suicides are culminated during this time. In the case of the disciples, “the winds were contrary”. In Hebrew it is the same word for WIND and for SPIRIT. The word is RUACH. We could say that “the spirits were against them or contrary” another word for CONTRARY is the word ADVERSE. In Hebrew the word for adversity is STANÍ Meaning SATANIC. The name for our archenemy, the Adversary, the devil is Hasatan or SATAN.
So, we could paraphrase this scripture as follow,
Seeing them straining at the oars, for there was a satanic spirit fighting them at about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. Mark 4:48
Every time that we try to do Y’shua’s work we can count on it that there will be satanic opposition, there will be adversity and opposition so fierce that it will try to make us QUIT! Wake up and commune with Him on the 4th Watch of the Night and see the Victory every time!
Then He got into the boat with them, and the wind stopped; and they were utterly astonished. Mark 4:51
When we are awake and talking to HIM on the 4th Watch of the Night, we receive faith for the miraculous, we are enabled to “walk on the water”. They were not advancing with the help of a good boat and Peter advanced faster “walking on the water!”
And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. Matthew 14:25
Peter said to Him, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Yeshua. Matthew 14:28,29
Sometimes all our devices and plans to advance His Kingdom in the work that He has entrusted us with are useless! Even if they are “professional” and we have all the necessary skills, gifts and state of the art administration. We just need something else to help us; we need a Miraculous Advance, something out of the ordinary! We need to walk on the water! But how can we get the faith to do something extraordinary that had never been done before? We must hear His voice CLEARLY. That is possible during the Fourth Watch of the Night!
"I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me. Proverbs 8:17
In most Bibles there is a wrong translation here. It does not say in the Hebrew “diligently” or “early”, it says MESHACHARAI or those who seek me BEFORE DAWN. The word Shachar in Hebrew is DAWN. So this verse really says:
“I love those who love me (wisdom!) and those who seek me before dawn (fourth watch of the night!) will find Me!” Proverbs 8:17 (paraphrased from Hebrew original)
When you find Him, you find Wisdom and all the rest shall follow, HaleluYah!!!
Changing the Winds of Adversity to Winds of Favor!
"Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts. "For he who finds me finds life and obtains favor from YHVH. Proverbs 8:34, 35
Those that seek Y’shua (Wisdom) before the sun is up during the 4th watch of the night will find Him and He will change the Winds of Adversity, the satanic storms for Miraculous Occurrences for the Winds of Favor of YHVH will be upon them! Notice that it says to do it “daily” in other words it is not enough to do it once, or once in a while. In order to obtain His Wisdom and Favor we must make it a spiritual discipline to wake ourselves up some time between 3-6 AM to confer, commune and talk to Him! Sometimes you may be completely exhausted but nevertheless put the alarm clock on and lie in bed communing with Him. Ask Him for the Grace to seek Him when all of you would like to stay asleep and He will grant it to you if you are determined to honor Him and find Him! Do what you can and He will do what He can! Sometimes you will commune for hours and sometimes for minutes, He will lead you!
When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, for You have been my help and in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. Psalms 63:6, 7
