This has been a very intense week in Israel. We are finally at war again. Most everyone that has brains in this country was yearning for this to happen. The story of Samson in the Holy Scriptures illustrates the present happenings in a very prophetic way. Israel has been like a blind and weakened “Samson” that had lost its strength because he gave in to the enemy. The center piece of his defeat was GAZA.
Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her. ….. The lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, "Entice him, and see where his great strength lies and how we may overpower him that we may bind him to afflict him. Then we will each give you eleven hundred pieces of silver." Judges 16:1,5
The Philistines, (from which the name Palestinians is derived,) detected a weakness with Samson, that weakness is what ultimately lead him to lose his hair and his strength. PM Ariel Sharon was a modern day Israeli Samson. He “prostituted” himself in Gaza when he betrayed all of the settlers and everyone that had voted for him in year 2000. Gaza was handed over to the terrorists on a “silver platter” and it became the focus of terror launching towards Israel. Right after he did that PM Ariel Sharon fell into a coma and has been a “vegetable” ever since. PM Ariel Sharon represented Israel as a Samson of God. Since then, Israel has been blinded and weakened, and had become the laughing stock of the Moslem world giving the demon god Alla the glory for their victories. This of course has caused a wave of global terror as well.
Now the lords of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to rejoice, for they said, "Our god has given Samson our enemy into our hands." When the people saw him, they praised their god, for they said, "Our god has given our enemy into our hands, even the destroyer of our country, who has slain many of us." It so happened when they were in high spirits, that they said, "Call for Samson, that he may amuse us." So they called for Samson from the prison, and he entertained them. And they made him stand between the pillars. Judges 16:23-25
Israel has been playing dead for too long, in fact for 8 long years and most particularly since the infamous Gaza Disengagement in August of 2005. 6500 Kassam rockets and mortars have landed injuring many, killing some and traumatizing thousands. 250,000 Israeli citizens, men, women and children have lived in constant fear. The whole area around Gaza had become “canon’s meat”. Thousands of children are shell shocked and thousands of parents live in constant fear. The international community including the World Council of Churches, representing 500 million Christians or more world wide have been pushing Israel to a place of national suicide. Finally a true Hanuka Miracle happened and operation Cast Lead begun in on the 27th of December, the seventh light of Hanuka, on the Shabbat (seventh day).
After the hair of Samson was shaved, it began to grow again and with it the hope of restoration of strength,
Then the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes; and they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze chains, and he was a grinder in the prison. However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it was shaved off. Judges 21:22
For the first time in many years our government is showing signs of SANITY, and began to communicate faith, courage and determination to our people. Children began to say “our army is now defending us!” For years the government of Israel had prostituted itself with world opinion and pressure, and had left its citizens defenseless. When your own government betrays you, it causes hopelessness all around! The Disengagement from Gaza three years ago was a point of bitter betrayal. 10,000 wonderful settlers that had laid their lives down for 30 years, in order to turn a horrible desert into a Garden of Eden, were punished for their sacrifice. Our government, headed by PM Ariel Sharon, betrayed them in order to appease President George W. Bush, heading the international community, who wanted more Arab Oil. He slept with “Delilah”.
Supposedly, the Israeli settlers of Gush Katif were brutally uprooted from their homes in order to give the “poor Palestinians” more space to live in crowded Gaza. However, instead of improving the living conditions of its citizens, the Palestinian Authorities allowed Hamas to take over and to turn what once was the pride of Israel, the beautiful hot houses of Gush Katif in Gaza, the inheritance of the Tribe of Judah, into a launching base of endless Kassam Rockets to taunt, mock, terrorize, lame, maim, injure and murder defenseless Israeli civilians in the Western Negev. Their mockery had reached Heaven after 6500 Kassam Rockets and an unbearable situation of a soon coming Holocaust to Israel. The Palestinians, and even Israeli Arab citizens, became seriously belligerent and began to attack in Jerusalem, in Modiin and wherever there are Arab workers.
Samson Israel was still blind and bare headed……
This situation is dangerous, as Arabs live all over Israel and it is near impossible to protect its citizens. The more they detected the weakness of the Israeli government, and its lack of response, the bolder the terrorists became. Though not all Arabs in Israel are terrorists, it became now impossible to trust any. Even those that had worked for a Jewish boss in the municipality for a long time became dangerous terrorists. This of course can cause a widespread panic and fear. Finally, as answered prayer the government of Israel made the decision to start operation Cast Lead. Though fully aware of the terrible consequences of any war, and of the unbearable international pressure, most Israeli citizens sighed a sigh of relief. HOPE began to be sparked throughout the nation again. Fully aware of the price we will pay, just like Samson of old, we are asking the Almighty to strengthen us ONE MORE TIME. He has answered and operation Cast Lead has begun.
Then Samson called to the YHVH and said, "O Lord GOD, please remember me and please strengthen me just this time, O God, that I may at once be avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes." Judges 16:28
Samson grasped the two middle pillars on which the house rested, and braced himself against them, the one with his right hand and the other with his left. And Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" And he bent with all his might so that the house fell on the lords and all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he killed in his life. Judges 16:30
May He grant us to live after this, and that our death would be a death to self, that we might live in His sight! May we lose our life that we may gain it, and may He pour during this time BOTH His strength, to defeat our enemies, and the spirit of grace and supplication, so we might seek Him and Return to Him.
It was in Gaza that Samson brought down the Temple of the Philistines, and their god Dagon was defeated. It is in Gaza that Israel has now the opportunity to defeat the Moslem god Allah. May YHVH be glorified and give victories to Jacob for the sake of His Holy Name!
