THE ULTIMATE BLESSING #9

THE POWER OF DESIRE

Shabbat shalom dearly beloved!

“Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4

19 years ago I was in my apartment in Israel and was visited by my Father in Heaven. His glory came into the room where I was and His Presence was so thick that I had to lay prostrate on the floor. His very clear voice asked me: “Dominiquae, do you WANT to marry Baruch?” I was truly trembling. What a question! I did not think that I had “a say” in this matter, I thought that YHVH will decide for me, so I answered: “I do not know. I make mistakes in love, if YOU want me to I will, you decide for me!” The Voice of my Father in Heaven resounded firmly: “Do YOU WANT to marry Baruch?” Baruch was at that time in a prayer retreat in a known monastery where they had a prayer hotel and he had been asking my hand in marriage from my Father in Heaven because my earthly Father had passed away. My answer to the second time Abba asked was the same: “I don’t know I am foolish in love issues, YOU decide for me!” I was terrifying of even desiring to be married because of fear of making yet another mistake! The voice of Abba and this time even firmer resounded in my spirit: “I will not decide for you! Do you WANT to marry Baruch” Oi Vei! I had received so many visions showing me that it was YAH’s Perfect Will for me to marry Baruch but He did not want me to obey out of obligation but out of DESIRE. I was so scared, now the responsibility of this marriage will be on my shoulders as it is not God’s decision but mine! I said the weakest YES I have ever said in my life! I wanted to but I was so afraid of desiring love again, so I was afraid of failure!

This should have served me as a lesson in all that pertains to DESIRE but it did not! Not fully! I spent many more years being very “spiritual” and being completely void of any personal desire. How many people in the Body of Messiah have misinterpreted the following  Scripture:

And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.”  Mark 8:34

I did! I thought that denying myself meant to have no desires whatsoever! Of course I was wrong! Eventually it brought me to a place of great disappointment and hopelessness.

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12

Desire is LIFE and without desire we are like walking dead! For a season the spirit of religion will satisfy us but eventually it will leave us empty! Elohim created us to DESIRE. Desire is what motivates us; it is the MOTOR of all our actions! Of course there are holy desires and unholy desires but DESIRE on itself is the essence of life. We must desire in order to act. A husband must desire his wife and a wife must desire her husband if they are to have a happy marriage. For babies to be born without rejection, parents must communicate desire of that baby. The desire for the birth right caused Jacob to get it! YHVH hated Esau because he did not desire the birth right!
“That there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.  For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears.”  Hebrews 12:16-17
I remember a few years ago I was at the Kotel (Western Wall) praying. I was in the Spirit and there was such an awesome Presence of God! I was worshipping Him with great DESIRE! Then I heard His voice so clearly: “What do you want Dominiquae?” NOTHING I said, Your Presence is all I want! His Presence left me IMMEDIATELY, the Glory left because I said that I desired NOTHING!  I began to cry out: Lord don’t leave, please don’t go…I sought Him with tears just like Esau and I could not obtain the Presence back. I lost the Presence because I refused to ask Him for my heart’s desire! I learnt a great lesson.

He is so eager to give us our hearts desires like a Father is eager to give special gifts and treats to His beloved children! Even as a husband that wants to lavish diamonds on his wife. My husband loves to buy me nice jewels but I did not want him to spend money (that we did not have to spare being ministers for so long!) on “frills” such as a jewel for me. One day YAH (God) rebuked me! He said sharply: Let your husband bless you! Oh boy! I obeyed and from then on I allowed Rabbi to buy me whatever he wanted, in fact I learnt to enjoy it.

The natural outcome of delighting ourselves in Him is that He gives us the desires of our hearts so we’d better have some! The natural outcome of diligently seek Him is that He rewards us, so we’d better be DESIRING His reward!

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

Even when it is about gifts and the anointing we must DESIRE it if we are to have them!

“Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.” 1 Corinthians 14:1

The power and the magnitude of the gifts depend on OUR DESIRE for them! That is why Paul says eagerly desire spiritual gifts!

Jacob needed to eagerly desire to be blessed by the Angel that changed his name to Israel. He fought with him all night for the blessing and finally because of the power of Jacob’s desire, He blessed Jacob and changed his name. With the change of name came also the fulfillment of the promise and the inheritance!

Then he said, "Let me go, for the dawn is breaking." But he said, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."  Genesis 32:26

When we truly desire something we will be very intense about it, we will start imagining this desire fulfilled. The reason why many do not get their prayers answered is because they don’t truly want what they are asking for. When you want something you are willing to pay the price of getting it! Jacob left this encounter limping but he got his blessing!

Now the sun rose upon him just as he crossed over Penuel, and he was limping on his thigh.”  Genesis 32:31

It is costly to fight for the Blessing, it is costly to allow strong desire to live in you but it is a lot more costly to live the life of a walking zombie that wants nothing too much, has no strong feelings and is always “cool”. We are made in the image and likeness of Elohim and He is a God of great desires, emotions and passion. He loves Israel passionately! His descriptions of Israel’s betrayals are the descriptions of a wounded lover! He loves humanity with great desire to the point that He gave His only begotten Royal Son Y’shua to redeem it.

There is nothing wrong with passion and desire what is wrong is selfish ambition and lust which is inordinate or perverted desire. When there is no desire, there is no drive and no joy.  I have killed a lot of drive and joy in my life trying to be super spiritual by not wanting anything “just you Lord!” It is nothing but a religious spirit based on fear and on selfishness! When we do get our prayers answered it normally entails great responsibility and not many are willing to pay the price to be responsible! It is easier to be “pseudo spiritual” and want nothing but His Presence! But we live down here on earth and when we are in His Presence He asks “What do you want?” He asked Solomon and Solomon answered WISDOM and he got it + riches! In Psalms 8 we read that Wisdom brings Riches, they are connected. Solomon had a great desire for WISDOM. He did not ask it in order to be “spiritual” or religious, he asked for it because he desired it with all of his heart and he got it!

What is it that you desire? Will you allow yourself to dream of it, to imagine it and to desire it with all of your heart? Many people are afraid to do so because of past failures in accomplishing what they desire, but the best way to go on is not to stop desiring but to forget the pain of the past, pray about it and go at it again! Maybe the desire got frustrated it was not the timing, maybe the enemy came in or maybe you aborted it. Whatever the reason is find the desire within your heart (you may have to resurrect it), ask the Holy Spirit to help you find it and then go at it again!

"Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.” Mark 11:24

In order to pray and ask we need to DESIRE and then in order to believe that we have received it, we need to IMAGINE that we have it already, we need to feel the sensation of fulfillment and then as we delight (that’s an awesome sensation) ourselves in Adonai before we know it, our desire manifests in the natural and we have it! Desire is closely linked with Imagination and our Imagination is the vehicle on which Faith works.

Desire, Imagination and Faith will bring about Delight and this will bring about Fulfillment.

When we truly desire something and we pray for it believing and seeing it in our imagination, we will also do what is necessary and what is right in order to get it! Jacob fought and obtained it! King Solomon made a sacrifice that caused YHVH to pay attention. He desired to connect with Him and He did!

Now Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of his father David, except he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.  The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place; Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, " Ask what you wish me to give you." 1 Kings 3:3-5

Desire will lead you to do some sacrificial acts, to pray, to ask, to believe, to imagine, to delight yourself in Him, to worship Him and all of a sudden that which you have already seen in the eyes of your spirit will manifest in a tangible form!

I pray that I have sparked some desire in you to DESIRE!

“The fear of the wicked it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.” Proverbs 10:24
